EU Agriculture Commissioner-elect visits Total Produce

On the eve of assuming office, incoming EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan visited Irish fresh produce multinational, Total Produce. Accompanied by Total Produce chief executive, Rory Byrne, the tour began at Total Produce grower, Jim O’Rourke’s glasshouses in Swords, Co. Dublin before visiting its nearby central distribution centre in Swords. Commissioner-elect Hogan praised “the impressive growth of Total Produce’s business [which] illustrates the potential of our indigenous agri-food industry”.

Topaz launches new Home Heat campaign 

Topaz Home Heat has launched a new campaign to remind people to order their home heating fuel before the onset of cold weather. The launch coincided with a warning from weather experts that Ireland could be set for an Arctic freeze within weeks. To mark the launch of its new site (www.topaz.ie) and online ordering facility, Topaz is giving away 500 litres of fuel every week for the next 26 weeks and double Play or Park loyalty points to customers who order online.

SuperValu to sell 125,000 Irish poinsettias this Christmas 

SuperValu has announced that it expects to sell 125,000 Irish poinsettias this Christmas. SuperValu will stock 100% Bord Bia quality assured Irish grown poinsettias supplied by Dublin based grower Uniplumo.Now in its 18th year, Uniplumo’s partnership with SuperValu has led the grower to increase the number of poinsettias grown by 25% over the past three years to meet customer demand.

New style Avonmore milk cartons hit the shelves 

Avonmore has launched an innovative new design for its milk cartons, which makes them easier to open, pour more smoothly and flatten more conveniently for recycling. The new Elopak carton (Pure-Pak Sense) is a first for the Irish market and is being introduced across the Avonmore milk range starting with Avonmore Super Milk, which is on shelf now. The new packs have a twist cap that seals in the freshness but is simple to open with just one twist.

Cushelle: Giving shoppers the chance to win their own heat ‘n’ hug koala

2014 has been an exciting year so far for Cushelle, with the excitement set to continue this winter. The brand with 11% market share* launched a new computer generated TV campaign earlier in the year and also completed a pack refresh across the range. This winter, through a special on-pack campaign, Cushelle will give Irish consumers the chance to win a heat ‘n’ hug koala. One koala can be won every 10 minutes.
