Cat Club re-launch aims to build on proven sales record

Cat Club has been re-launched, with new improved formulations introduced across the range. Cat Club has also undergone a packaging re-design which will increase its identity on shelf.  A new departure for Cat Club is the introduction of a new Poultry Selection Chunks in Gravy Six Pack, to complement the current Cat Club Variety Chunks in Jelly Six Pack.  Cat Club has also introduced two new Variety Three Packs, price-marked at €2, offering the customer value for money and the retailer strong margin. Cat Club will also be supported by a strong advertising campaign and promotional activity.

Erin launches new Dine-Ins range  

Erin has introduced a new range of world inspired meal solutions which allows anyone to cook a restaurant quality meal in less than 20 minutes. Erin’s latest innovation comes in four variants – Thai Green Curry, Tikka Masala, Sweet & Sour and Korma and has been available since October priced at €2.99. Each Erin Dine-Ins kit contains two gluten-free pots, the first pot contains a flavoured concentrated paste with oil and stock and the second pot contains ground herbs and spices.

Manor Farm awarded 2014 Repak Member of the Year  

Irish chicken producer Manor Farm has been named Repak Member of the Year this year. The award was given in recognition of the Irish chicken producer’s best practice in waste management and in their participation in the overall Repak scheme.Manor Farm was also awarded Repak’s Best Packaging Prevention Initiative Award, sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Lonely Planet says Ireland’s ‘incredible’ hospitality is ‘on par’ with the best

The Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI) has welcomed the Lonely Planet’s latest publication “Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2015” which ranks Ireland as fifth on its list of Top 10 in the world to visit in 2015, stating that the publication reinforces the intrinsic link between Ireland’s hospitality and drinks industries and our tourism offering. Peter O’Brien, DIGI chairman and Diageo’s European corporate relations director said the guide “will reach thousands of people across the globe”.

Irwin’s Bakery ‘rolling’ in awards 

Portadown-based Irwin’s Bakery, Northern Ireland’s only indigenous plant bakery, has received a number of accolades recently. These include awards for its Rankin Selection soda and potato farls at Great Taste 2014 and a Gold Blas na hÉireann – Irish Food Award for its traditional Irish Barm Brack with whiskey. Irwin’s also picked up a highly commended Irish Quality Food Award for its Lidl own-label Cinnamon and Raisin Soda Bread, as well as Tiptree World Bread Awards for the bakery’s iconic batch bread and Irish whiskey fruit loaf.

Parcel Connect expects volumes to double over next 12 months

Courier operator, Fastway has announced it is in the process of establishing its online delivery service, Parcel Connect, www.parcelconnect.ie, as a separate stand-alone business. The company is gearing up for the expected surge in online shopping this peak season. Online sales in Ireland reached €4.6bn in 2013 and are forecast to reach €5.5bn this year. Having launched with only 300 stores last year, the network has grown substantially and now has over 1,000 Payzone agents offering Parcel Connect services, throughout every county in Ireland. The business, which has already handled over 250,000 parcels since launch last year, expects volumes to double over the next 12 months.
