He has come out of practically nowhere in the past couple of years to become one of the most recognisable and popular TV chefs out there. As the host of Kitchen Hero on RTE, Donal’s recipes have inspired amateur cooks to get their hands dirty in the kitchen, and his approachable ideas have also made him an ideal partner for Spar over the past six years.

That partnership was confirmed to be ongoing recently with the return of Kitchen Hero to RTE screens. The new series is once again sponsored by Spar in a deal worth €120,000. The theme of the new series is “Donal’s Irish Feast”, whereby Donal visits seven counties across Ireland, meeting producers of the finest fresh ingredients and learning their secrets of the trade.

Speaking about the new deal, Suzanne Weldon, Marketing & Communications Director for SPAR Ireland, said: “Donal Skehan is a great ambassador for our brand and for Irish food. Kitchen Hero has always been about celebrating the best of Irish food and culture and SPAR is particularly excited that this series will highlight the offerings of some of the best indigenous food companies on our doorstep.”

Donal Skehan, who just turned 29, is a self-taught cook and TV presenter and the author of four best-selling cook books. He is also the newest member of Jamie Oliver’s global FoodTube network.
