New style Avonmore milk cartons hit the shelves

Avonmore has launched an innovative new design for its milk cartons, which makes them easier to open, pour more smoothly and flatten more conveniently for recycling. The new Elopak carton (Pure-Pak Sense) is a first for the Irish market and is being introduced across Avonmore’s milk range starting with Avonmore Super Milk, which is on shelf now. The new packs have a twist cap that seals in the freshness but is simple to open with just one twist.

World Class mixology competition returns to Ireland

World Class, the prestigious mixology competition, returns to Ireland for 2014-2015. The year-long journey of qualifiers and heats will see Ireland’s most talented bartenders compete to represent Ireland at the World Class Global Final in South Africa in July 2015. The elite competition will showcase Diageo’s luxury spirits portfolio. The World Class “Fundamentals of Flavours” event took place in The Liquor Rooms, Dublin on Tuesday, 14 October.

Bord Bia launched National Bread Week

National Bread Week (13 – 18 October) was launched on Monday 13 October at Bord Bia in Dublin. The initiative was organised by the Flour, Confectioners and Bakery Association, and supported by bakers, wholesalers and retailers across Ireland. President of FCBA, Patrick McCloskey, said: “We hope National Bread Week will remind everyone about the range and quality of our nation’s loaves.” The campaign was supported by chef and author, Rachel Allen.

Tullamore D.E.W. to feature at Whisky Live Dublin 2014

Whisky Live, the international celebration of whisky, comes to Dublin for one day only on Saturday 25 October in Dublin’s Mansion House, and Tullamore D.E.W., the fastest-growing Irish whiskey brand in the world, will be there on the day with some of their most popular premium whiskeys: the Tullamore D.E.W. 2014 winners announced at the Baby Elegance maternity and infant awards

The seventh annual Baby Elegance maternity and infant awards took place at a gala luncheon on, Friday, 10 October 2014. Hosted by TV3’s Sybil Mulcahy and Martin King, the awards were presented at the Double Tree by Hilton.

FMCG winners included Best Baby Skincare Product (sponsored by the Irish Mail on Sunday) which was awarded to Sudocrem. Pregnacare won Best Pregnancy Supplement, Infacol was awarded Best for Baby Colic and Best Pain Relief for Kids went to Calpol. Aldi was also a double winner at the awards, with the Aldi Mamia Newborn Nappies winning the Best Nappy Range and Aldi Mamia Baby Wipes Sensitive awarded Best Baby Wipes. SuperValu won Best Family Brand and Best Family Supermarket (sponsored by Johnson & Johnson). Best Baby Food was awarded to Organix – Rice Cakes Apple.
