As part of the Gala Gifts for Schools Competition, Gala Retail has donated a whopping €30,000 to three lucky Irish primary schools.

To be in with a chance to win, schools were invited to submit a 60-second video on one of three topics, and how they would spend the money in order to benefit the education and school life of the pupils. The three categories were Best Eco Project, Best Tech Project and Best Health & Wellness Project.

When the judging was complete, St. Safan’s National School in Donegal, Gaelscoil Eoghain Uí Thuairisc in Carlow and Scoil Mhuire Junior in Blakestown, Dublin were all awarded the €10,000 prize.

The prizes were gifted by presenter and entrepreneur, Aoibhín Garrihy, who surprised each school by appearing at a special assembly on behalf of Gala Retail. She was joined by Gala’s marketing & ambient trading manager Tony Cluskey.

“The creativity and innovation shown in the videos that we received was outstanding,” said Cluskey. “It was extremely difficult to judge the competition, but our winning videos really stood out thanks to their stories, the clear message of how their cash gift could benefit each school, and of course, its pupils being the stars of the show in each video.”
