Following a nationwide search, some of Ireland’s most inspirational individuals were announced at the inaugural Sunday Independent/Gala Retail Inspiration Awards, which took place in Dublin’s Marker Hotel. The event was hosted by broadcaster Lucy Kennedy.
In conjunction with the Sunday Independent, Gala created the Inspiration Awards as a way of celebrating the selfless acts and inspirational deeds of people in Ireland who are making the country a better place. These people were nominated by friends, family and colleagues all over Ireland, with the final winners selected by a judging panel made of Sunday Independent Life magazine columnist Alison Canavan, broadcaster Marty Morrissey, Special Olympics Ireland CEO Matt English, Gala Retail CEO Gary Desmond and Paul Sheridan, head of news at the Sunday Independent.
“Brave, courageous, selfless and inspirational are just some of the words that go some way to describing our finalists and winners at the Sunday Independent Gala Retail Inspiration Awards,” said Gary Desmond, CEO of Gala retail. “Our worthy winners are true examples of people making Ireland a better place for us all.”
