Lidl Ireland has recently opened the doors to its new store in Cavan, creating 16 new permanent jobs.

Located on Ballinagh Road, in Cavan town, a brand new store has been built to replace the original store that served the community for more than 25 years.

Shauna Lynch, Cavan County LGFA Captain, officially cut the ribbon at the launch and greeted shoppers as they enjoyed the opening day festivities.

To mark the opening as part of its commitment to the local community, the Lidl Cavan store team selected local charity SOSAD (Cavan branch), to receive a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers.

The charity supports individuals and families in the local Cavan area in managing their mental health and overcoming life’s challenges.

At the official opening, Lynch, said: “As a LGFA player, we see how much support Lidl gives to ladies football and it’s great to see that translate into my local community with this brand new store, new jobs and their donation to a local charity.”

New upgrade

The new upgraded store in Cavan reflects Lidl’s established ‘concept’ design and features a spacious sales floor, offering a premier shopping experience for customers including self-service checkouts, long tills, and the popular in-store bakery offering fresh baked goods daily.

According to the retailer, sustainability is a key focus for the Cavan store as the retail unit incorporates an ISO 50001-certified energy management system.

This includes high performing energy efficient technologies, the installation of solar panels (PV panels), LED lighting with automatic lighting control, and heat recovery systems.

Within the 120-space car park, the provision of a number of bike spaces and electric vehicle (EV) charging points further supports sustainable transport options for customers and store teams.

‘Keen focus’

Commenting, Tom McAuliffe, regional managing director, Lidl Ireland, said: “Designed with a keen focus on customer experience and sustainability, the innovative building boasts an energy-efficient design, an expanded sales floor, and unique in-store facilities.

“Shoppers can continue to expect our commitment to offering high-quality products at market-leading value in this more modern shopping environment.”

Lidl Cavan will be open daily: Monday – Saturday 8am – 10pm, and Sunday 9am – 9pm.
