Kerrygold returned to the small screen last month with a new ad specifically for the Irish market, produced and edited by Irish International/ BBDO. Entitled ‘Sod,’ it tells the story of an Irish son who has returned to Ireland to visit his mother, accompanied by his pregnant German wife, and highlights the Irish mother’s reluctance to let go the apron strings and the Irishman’s attachment to his homeland. Featuring the catchphrase “Sure we export all our best stuff,” Kerrygold is also underlining its strength as an export product.

Kerrygold is among the top three imported brands in over 50 markets worldwide, leading its category in over half of those. And it is the market leader in Germany, where over 405 million packs of Kerrygold butter are sold each year.

John Jordan, marketing director, Irish Dairy Board, commented: “The new advert keeps the Kerrygold story up-to-date by fusing present day emigration with traditional Irish scenes and topics which almost everyone can identify with. This new ad is sure to attain iconic status and we look forward to the public picking up on new Kerrygold quotes.”

Previous famous Kerrygold lines include “Who’s taking the horse to France?” and “Will you put a bit of butter on the spuds Andre.” The new TV campaign will run until Christmas and will be supported by a strong promotional campaign by the Irish Dairy Board.
