Two new Gala stores have opened in Bray, Co Wicklow and Monkstown, Co Dublin, bringing the total number of Gala stores to over 200. At the end of February Alastair McDonald and his team opened at 36A Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow. This has created up to two full-time and up to seven part-time jobs for the local community. The new store spans over 1,044 sq ft providing an extensive grocery selection and fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, the new store will sell a wide range of newspapers and magazines, and will have an indoor seating area for all visitors to avail of.

McDonald said: “Many people have expressed their great joy and excitement at the new Gala Bray store opening, which is just absolutely brilliant for myself and my team.  I felt that we are putting some life back into the store that was known as McCarthy’s Newsagents and Cafe.”

The Monkstown Gala was officially opened on Friday 16 March by proprietor Joan Egan. The store located at 133 Oliver Plunkett Road, Monkstown, is over 1,500 Sq ft and is home to a state-of-the-art hot and cold deli bar and the Baker’s Corner range of fresh bakery products, provides the Lotto and has a fully operational off-licence.

Egan said she was absolutely delighted to become part of the Monkstown community with the opening of this new Gala store.  “It will be an exciting challenge and my team and I are committed to offering all of our customers the best possible retail service around.”

Gala currently sources €200 million from Irish suppliers.
