SuperValu and Centra stores cleaned up at the recent national Q Mark Awards for hygiene and food safety hosted by the Excellence Ireland Quality Association (EIQA).

The stores; Arthur’s SuperValu, Stradbally, Co. Laois, Hurley’s SuperValu, Midleton, Co. Cork, Flynn’s Centra, Little Island, Cork and Blanchfields, Centra, Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny topped the list of more than 3,000 organisations audited nationwide for their commitment to providing excellence in food safety and hygiene systems.

The awards are independently audited by EIQA, the independent certification body which promotes excellence across all categories within the industry. The winning SuperValu and Centra stores excelled through the most rigorous of audit and assessment programmes designed to produce long-term commitment to quality in every aspect of the hygiene process and service delivery.

Congratulating the stores, Donal Horgan, managing director, Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland said that it was a tremendous achievement for both SuperValu and Centra stores to top all categories and win these awards amid stiff competition from other supermarket and symbol groups across the country. “We are delighted with this recognition which acknowledges and pays tribute to the commitment SuperValu and Centra retailers make on a daily basis to making their stores the best in the country. Our retailers invest considerable time and money into ensuring the highest possible hygiene standards and food safety measures are enforced across their stores each day. These awards demonstrate to consumers that SuperValu and Centra stores are in a league of their own.”
