Retailer Brian Herlihy continuously strives to achieve first-class results in his 7,500 sq ft Centra store, based in Fermoy, County Cork. The award winning shop, which was named Centra Store of the Year in 2006, capitalises on its “hotel-sized kitchen” in order to ensure it can tingle customers’ taste buds on a daily basis.

“What sets our store apart is that we really do specialise in fresh foods,” says Herlihy, who explains that qualified chefs take pride in producing fresh meals, snacks and appetising bakery goods in-store from scratch.

A superior service

This constant motivation to provide customers with the best produce and service, also influenced Herlihy’s decision to choose PostPoint as his retail partner for electronic transactions and services. Like dedicated retailers such as Herlihy, PostPoint aims to consistently deliver superb customer service and marketing support in order to drive in-store sales, especially during the current challenging economic climate.

Not only is PostPoint dedicated to the provision of an excellent customer support service; the group also endeavours to make the retailer a one stop shop for all consumer electronic transactions , thereby promising to deliver a more superior service than any of its competitors.

For Brian Herlihy, the simplicity of PostPoint’s system was the factor that first attracted him to the company. “If a customer asks for a mobile top-up for example, I simply press a button on our till to print out the voucher. This also eliminates the possibility of shrinkage because there is no need to physically stock an item in the shop; a critical consideration for a high-value item.”

What is more, customer support has proved “excellent,” according to the retailer. “Our relationship with our PostPoint sales representative Margie Colfer is very good. Any time we’ve had any issues, PostPoint has dealt with the matter very quickly. Overall, they’ve been very attentive, and we’ve been very pleased with the customer service we’ve received.”

PostPointRich variety

PostPoint also offers retailers a variety of in-demand services, including mobile top-ups, stamps, bill pay, toll tags, debit/credit cards, gift and international calling cards; all of which generate vital footfall and incremental sales for stores. As well as distributing a vast array of electronic products and services for leading companies throughout Ireland, PostPoint is continuously expanding its portfolio to ensure it is offering its retailers the latest in must have products.

The PostPoint product which most affects Herlihy’s sales are mobile top-ups, which he describes as providing “a significant part of his business.”

Mobile top-ups deliver twin benefits for his store; through both, “driving footfall into the shop and being a very low cost service.” As he pertinently points out: “You don’t have to work very hard to achieve sales.” PostPoint ensures this is the case by maintaining a strong trade and consumer presence. The company achieves this goal by investing in a diverse marketing campaign including radio advertising and a range of attention-grabbing promotions.

Attractive results

The successful retailer explains more about the profits PostPoint’s services can generate. “With PostPoint’s mobile top-ups, there’s no cost involved other than cash handling. If you therefore look at the profit on that individual item versus the profit on any other item that requires storage etc, it’s huge.”

Herlihy also praises PostPoint’s wide range of attractive point of sale (POS) materials and permanent signage. “PostPoint’s POS materials grab customers’ attention through the use of bright colours. The group is also very open to providing extra POS materials as required.”

Looking to the future, he notes: “Overall, we enjoy an excellent working relationship with PostPoint and we look forward to continuing to work with the group in the future.”
