New Zealand All-Black legends Josevata Rokocoko, Ma’a Nonu and Anthony Boric took time off from their match preparations on 19 November to help Brent Pope launch his new children’s book, Bones, in aid of the Irish Osteoporosis Society charity (IOS), sponsored by Mace.
Aimed at 7-12 year olds, Bones it is available exclusively at Mace stores nationwide for €2.99 and from the Irish Osteoporosis Society (www.irishosteoporosis.ie / Ph. 1850 252 751).
Michele O’Brien, IOS health promotion manager said: “Bones is a great story and also contains important health messages. Healthy eating and weight bearing exercise are essential for healthy bones. Osteoporosis is a disease that manifests itself in childhood. If a child does not build up their maximum bone strength when their bones are growing, this will place them at much higher risk of developing osteoporosis. Osteoporosis affects one in five men and one in two women over 50 due to osteoporosis; however it affects all age groups including children.”
