Recent research conducted by Safefood has revealed that one in five users of social media already use it to share information about food safety and nutrition. The research was presented at Safefood’s one-day Social Media Conference on food and health in Ireland. Entitled ‘You are what you Tw-eat’, the conference explored how social media tools can be used in the area of food and health to enhance two-way communication between food and health organisations and consumers.
Key international and Irish experts were on hand to share their social media knowledge, including leading US global digital influence strategist, John Bell; Boards.ie communications manager, Darragh Doyle; and social media guru, Krishna De.
Fiona Gilligan, director marketing & communications, Safefood said: “With 1.6 million people on the island of Ireland on Facebook, conversation through social media channels is an ever increasing and immediate reality. We hope to highlight how social media can be used in food and health communications and are delighted to facilitate this conference.”
