Kilmeaden launches nationwide media campaign to celebrate 50th anniversary

Kilmeaden, the number one mature cheddar cheese block in Ireland, has unveiled details of a new media campaign. This year sees Kilmeaden celebrate its 50th anniversary and the milestone birthday will be marked with a comprehensive 360 degree marketing campaign including extensive TV, outdoor, in-store and online executions. The tongue-in-cheek 50th birthday creative concept playfully depicts a birthday party scene for Kilmeaden accompanied by the tagline ‘Well, at least the cheese is maturing nicely’.

Ireland BRC tick of approval for Oakland International value added services

Supply chain and food distribution specialist, Co. Meath-based Oakland International has again retained the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) quality standard for storage and distribution. Oakland’s highly specialised distressed load management service, available through its UK-based facility, actively reduces food wastage from the effects of consignment damage or loss, and was also shortlisted in the Innovation category of the Global Freight Awards 2015.

Teeling Whiskey Distillery wins Visitor Attraction of the Year Award 

The Teeling Whiskey Company’s Visitor Centre, at its new distillery in Newmarket in the Liberties area of Dublin city, has won the coveted ‘Visitor Attraction of the Year’ award at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky Rest of World Awards. The Teeling Whiskey Company will now battle it out against other regional winners for the overall global title. The winners will be announced at the Whisky Magazine Awards in London on 17 March 2016.

Irish whiskey revival continues with Donegal’s first distillery in 174 years

Continuing on the topic of whiskey, the first distillery in Donegal in 174 years, the Sliabh Liag Distillery, is to be constructed on the slopes of the Sliabh Liag sea cliffs in the Donegal Gaeltacht. Miriam Mooney, head of the Irish Whiskey Association said about the news: “The revival of the Irish whiskey industry is being felt across the island of Ireland and I’m delighted to hear of plans by James Doherty and Margaret Cunningham to open Donegal’s first distillery for 174 years.” The distillery has also launched its first brand, ‘The Silkie’, a blended Irish whiskey.

Mitsubishi Electric launches new photo kiosk for stores big on ideas but short on space 

Mitsubishi Electric has launched the new Smart Kiosk Gifts, a mini all-in-one self-service photo kiosk for retailers, stores and copy shops that are big on ideas but short on space. The kiosk can slot into a counter top space less than quarter of a square metre, yet produces high-quality prints in a choice of formats creating instant photo books, albums, greeting cards, calendars and framed pictures.

Alltech to host Craft Brews & Food Fair at Dublin’s Convention Centre on 5 – 7 February

The Alltech Craft Brews & Food Fair will feature more than 50 craft breweries and distilleries, sampling over 300 craft brews. There will also be an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest beer tasting. What’s more, Live RBS Six Nations rugby matches will be aired on three of the biggest screens in Dublin and eight live musical acts will help keep visitors entertained.
