Lillie’s Bordello opens Ireland’s first nightclub micro-distillery

Lillie’s Bordello is set to launch Lillie’s Laboratory, Ireland’s first nightclub micro-distillery, at Taste of Dublin 2015, from 11 – 14 in Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens. At Lillie’s Laboratory located in Lillie’s Bordello, open seven nights a week, guests can unleash their inner apothecary spending two hours creating their own flavoured gin or vodka. The experience costs €45 per person with a minimum booking of 10 people, with times available during both day and night.

‘Our Origin Is Green’ garden awarded top prize at Bloom 2015

Jane McCorkell, Kilsallaghan, Co. Meath received the highest accolade, overall large garden winner, at Bloom for her ‘Our Origin is Green’ garden. The gold medal garden, which represented a trip through Irish mythology, showcased Celtic design through the use of modern Irish material. Bord Bia’s Bloom 2015 festival was officially opened by the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins.

Galway’s Ronan Byrne receives Local Food Hero award

Ronan Byrne, ‘The Friendly Farmer’ from Galway scooped the Local Food Hero award, sponsored by Rewarding Times at the Irish Restaurant Awards 2015. Over 800 restaurateurs and industry players turned out in black tie at the awards in the DoubleTree by Hilton on Monday, 25 May. Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud took home the prize of Best Restaurant in Ireland and Mickael Viljanen of The Greenhouse was crowned Best Chef in Ireland.
