The Good Fish Company scoops BIM Seafood Innovation Award at Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards.

Cork-based seafood processor, The Good Fish Company, has scooped this year’s BIM Seafood Innovation Award for a new salmon product that is helping the business grow its presence in the United States.

The Good Fish Company won the award, announced at the Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards, for its premium Atlantic Salmon with Guinness Sweet Honey Mustard Melt & Panko Crumb product. The product has already achieved significant international recognition, including the Seafood Excellence Award for Best New Retail Product at the prestigious Seafood Expo North America in Boston in 2025.

Following this success, the product secured distribution with major U.S. retailers, contributing to the continued growth and expansion of The Good Fish Company’s export business.

The BIM Seafood Innovation Award reinforces Ireland’s reputation as a leader in seafood innovation and manufacturing excellence. It celebrates Irish seafood businesses that demonstrate excellence in product development, innovation, sustainability, and commercial potential at a time when Irish seafood businesses are meeting changing consumer needs

The award-winning product was developed through a strategic collaboration between The Good Fish Company and U.S based seafood importer, Icy Waters.

The Good Fish Company is a family-owned seafood processing business, employing more than 100 people. The company’s continued success has supported investment in its processing facilities in Shanbally.

Speaking at the awards, BIM’s Business Intelligence Manager, Paul Ward, said: “The Good Fish Company exemplifies the ambition and innovation that continues to drive Ireland’s seafood sector forward. Through investment in product development, strategic international partnerships and a strong focus on changing consumer needs, the company has successfully created a premium seafood offering, developed in Ireland, with strong overseas market appeal.”

“This award recognises not only an outstanding product, but also the innovation capability that exists across Ireland’s seafood industry. BIM is proud to support and recognise businesses that are creating added value through seafood innovation, processing expertise and product development, strengthening Ireland’s reputation in international markets.”

Commenting on the award, The Good Fish Company spokesperson Donagh Good said:

“We’re honoured to receive the BIM Seafood Innovation Award at Blas na hÉireann. Innovation is central to our business, and this recognition reflects the dedication of our team and partners who continually strive to develop exciting seafood products that meet evolving consumer tastes.

“We are proud to showcase the innovation and product development capability of Ireland’s seafood sector both at home and in export markets around the world.”

Innovation remains a key pillar of BIM’s strategy for developing a competitive, sustainable and profitable seafood sector.

BIM run a Seafood Innovation Programme, designed to strengthen the innovation and new product development (NPD) capability of Ireland’s seafood sector. The 2027 Programme is now open for applicants and more information can be found at www.bim.ie
