Aldi launches Aperini, based on popular Aperol Spritz cocktail

The popular Italian aperitif Aperol Spritz is coming to Aldi in the form of Aperini Italian Aperitif. This latest addition, priced €7.99, comes just in time for spring, and makes a perfect cocktail when blended with prosecco and a splash of soda water. Aperini is infused with orange, rhubarb, vanilla, an abundance of herbs and spices, and is expected to be a huge hit with customers.

 

Students from Tipperary and Laois named winners of  Odlums’ ‘CEIST All Ireland Bake-Off’

14 finalists from secondary schools across Ireland went “whisk to whisk” last Friday in a bid to be crowned Ireland’s ’Best Student Baker’ in the ‘CEIST All Ireland Bake-Off’. The aim of the annual event, organised with the support of Odlums, is to encourage a new generation of bakers, with students asked to design, plan and bake a novelty cake. While students in the Junior category were asked to present a cake based on a theme they have chosen themselves, students in the Senior category were required to design, bake and decorate a cake around the theme of ‘Wellbeing’.

Victory for the Maxol Ireland Students Team Against Scotland!

The Maxol Ireland Students rugby team, made up of players from DCU, DIT, UCC, TCD, UCD, Queen’s Belfast, Carlow Institute of Technology, the University of Limerick, and Dublin Business School won out over their Scottish counterparts this week, in a 33-17 battle. The match saw the fourth and final rugby battle of the weekend between Ireland and Scotland.  The Ireland Under 20s team played Scotland on Friday evening, the Six Nations victory took place on Saturday at the Aviva stadium, and the Women’s Six Nations match against Scotland, was also on Sunday in Donnybrook Stadium.

The range, which includes seven bespoke illustrations by Burke, was designed in celebration of Irish culture, nature and heritage with Fatti’s unique and distinctive style at the fore. The line was developed over a six-month period and can be purchased from stockists nationwide now, “making Irish art available to all people at the affordable price of a BIC lighter”.

Topaz’s latest Play or Park winner revealed

Topaz has announced Darragh Crossan of Co. Cavan as its January 2018 winner of Topaz Play or Park. Crossan chose to play his points at his local Topaz in Cavan, and was announced as the lucky winner of an all-new Seat Arona Xcellence, worth almost  €30,000. Darragh, his wife Mairead and his two children, James and Conor, said they couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of their new car.
