First distillery in Donegal for 175 gets the go-ahead

Planning permission has been granted for a new distillery on the slopes of the Sliabh Liag in Donegal, the first distillery in the county for 175 years. The first expression has already been launched, a blended Irish whiskey named The Silkie. The Silkie is the first of four spirit brands planned, all of which are inspired by local folklore and in keeping with the Donegal Gaeltacht tradition.

Tesco launches Little Steps to Living Healthier programme for staff and employees

Tesco Ireland is investing in its colleagues’ health with the launch of its ‘Little Steps to Living Healthier’ programme, designed to support colleagues to make healthier choices for their mind and body. Spread across four weeks in January,the programme profiles four strategic pillars: nutrition, healthy body, healthy mind and little steps to live healthier lives.

Over 14,500 Tesco staff will benefit from nutritional assistance, with free fruit every day at work as well as nutrition advice from expert dietician Sara Stanner.

SuperValu Celebrates Momentous Double Win in Wine Awards

SuperValu got 2017 off to a winning start by receiving two awards in the Sunday Business Post Annual Gold Star Awards. The first and most notable award was for Best Retail Wine Innovation, specifically for SuperValu’s excellence of Display and Structure within the stunning off-licence set-ups nationwide.

Meanwhile, for the second year in a row, SuperValu was awarded with the title of Best Supermarket Wine Outlet with notable nods to the refurbishment and upgrading of off-licences areas in stores around the country in 2016, greatly improving customer experience and offering.
