Iceland opens Waterford store
8 December 2014
Food retailer Iceland this morning at 9am opened the doors of its newest Irish store in Waterford and was welcomed to the community by guest of honour, President of the Waterford Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Derek O’Byrne.
Iceland has created 32 new jobs for the Waterford area, and promises to offer the best frozen food range and top grocery brands at unbeatable prices to its Waterford customers. To celebrate the launch, face painters were on hand to entertain children while parents availed of great launch week offers, which included 5kgs of Irish Rooster potatoes for €1.99 and Iceland’s Magnificent Seven, a range of frozen food products priced at €1.25.
Opening in time for Christmas, the new store offers shoppers great savings on over 2,000 branded grocery and chilled products. Iceland also offers a free home delivery service to customers when they spend €30 or more.
Colm Barry, store manager of Iceland Waterford, commented this morning: ‘’We are thrilled to open our new Iceland Store here on the Cork Road in Waterford and want to thank all of our new customers for coming along for the first day. Iceland is all about offering great quality fresh and award winning frozen products at great value prices particularly welcome ahead of the festive season! The team here is so excited and is looking forward to serving our customers over Christmas and into 2015.’’
President of the Waterford Chamber, Dr. Derek O’Byrne commented: “The Waterford Chamber of Commerce welcomes Iceland to the Cork Road. As a creator of jobs and a supporter of local products, Iceland will play an important role in contributing to the commercial vibrancy of the Waterford area in 2015 and beyond.”
The Waterford store opening marks Iceland’s eighth supermarket in Ireland. The company also opened a store in Co. Cork in November as part of its expansion plans.
