The deadline for this year’s National Grocery Management Awards has now been extended to 12 June 2020 in the context of Covid-19, with the gala ceremony to take place in September 2020.

Given the immensely busy schedules retailers have faced in recent weeks, as they continue to keep shelves stocked and standards high during a global pandemic, the deadline has been extended to allow sufficient time for entry, and ensure that deserving retail managers across the country don’t miss out on the opportunity to be celebrated for their efforts.

The National Grocery Management Awards is Ireland’s premier scheme for recognising and honouring management excellence.

This unique scheme, supported by main sponsor Bank of Ireland and carried out in association with Excel Recruitment, is independently judged and seeks out best management practice among those who carry responsibility without ownership in the grocery retail sector.

The gala ceremony will be an opportunity to celebrate the hard-working retail managers who have shown tremendous dedication to their customers and colleagues during the outbreak of Covid-19.

“Now, more than ever,” said ShelfLife editor Gillian Hamill, “shoppers appreciate the efforts that retail managers and their staff go to in order to ensure shelves are re-stocked every day.

“This year’s ceremony will be a true celebration of the Herculean work carried out by retail managers to continue providing excellent customer service and look after the wellbeing of colleagues during the most challenging of times. The heroes of our industry who have gone above and beyond for customers, particularly the most vulnerable in our society, deserve to be recognized and celebrated more than ever and that is exactly what this year’s Grocery Management Awards will do.”
