More than 400 guests gathered at Dublin's Citywest Hotel last night for the 2019 ShelfLife Grocery Management Awards, at which Donnie Christian of Londis DCU was crowned Retail Manager of the Year AND Large C-Store Manager of the Year.

Donnie Christian, manager of Londis, Dublin City University, Glasnevin, Dublin 9 has been crowned National Grocery Retail Manager of the Year 2019 at a lavish ceremony held in Dublin’s Citywest Hotel.

The ShelfLife National Grocery Management Awards 2019, held in association with Excel Recruitment and Bank of Ireland and hosted by 2FM’s Shay Byrne, attracted a record number of entries and attendees with over 400 guests from the grocery retailing industry.  In total, 23 awards were presented, honouring excellence in the many departments that make up local convenience stores and supermarkets, culminating in the grand prize of ShelfLife National Grocery Retail Manager of the Year.

This year’s judges said of winner Donnie Christian: “Our Supreme National Grocery Retail Manager of the Year has created a template for best-in-class retailing that focuses on accommodating diverse customer needs, enhancing the customer experience, minimising the environmental footprint, and supporting more sustainable and ethical food production officially launching Ireland’s most technologically advanced and sustainable grocery store, in the heart of the Dublin City University (DCU) campus.”
