The June Bank Holiday weekend will see Irish gelato company Gino’s Gelato open the doors of its 30th store in Gorey, Co. Wexford. To celebrate, there will be 30 minutes of free gelato (one scoop per person) from 12pm each day in the Gorey store over the bank holiday weekend.

Since the brand’s inception in 2008, Gino’s Gelato has grown to become one of the country’s most loved treats. 100% Irish owned, Gino’s was founded by second generation ice-cream men, Jonathan Kirwan and Anthony Murphy, and their number one priority was to always use the very best and freshest ingredients, keeping the gelato as authentic as possible to traditional methods. Each year Gino’s uses more than 600,000 litres of Organic Irish milk supporting Irish farmers and ensuring the very best tasting gelato as a result.

This June, the pair are excited to launch their first Co. Wexford store in Gorey and the 30th store across the country. Gino’s Gelato now has stores in 10 counties (Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Galway, Cork, Waterford, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo & Wexford).

Despite the past two years under the difficult confines of a global pandemic, the pair plan to open 7 more new stores before the end of 2022. With this expansion Gino’s Gelato will add an additional 130 staff to their workforce in 2022 bringing total staff numbers to nearly 600 by the end of the year.

As well as free gelato in the new Gorey store, Gino’s will also have an in-store competition happening in all stores across the country for the month of June, where customers will be asked to tag @ginos_gelato on Instagram when they pick up a gelato, in order to be in with the chance of winning a €20 voucher each day.

Freshness is everything at Gino’s with every flavour made fresh in every store every day by in-house master gelato makers. Merging the very best of Italy and Ireland, Gino’s uses only 100% Irish organic milk mixed with the finest Italian ingredients, creating a gelato that has won international awards and even beating the Italians themselves.

“We are delighted to bring Gino’s Gelato to Gorey, our first store in Wexford,” said MD and co-owner Anthony Murphy. “While the past two years have been challenging for many small businesses including Gino’s, we feel we have adapted well and have even more plans to bring the great taste of Gino’s to people all over Ireland.”

“We are delighted to expand the Gino’s Gelato footprint in the Sunny South East and just in time for summer! Gorey is a bustling town and even busier in the summer months, so we are thrilled to finally be opening there and are getting fantastic local support and feedback so far.

“Supporting local and supporting Irish is incredibly important to us at Gino’s Gelato. We use only 100% Organic Irish milk in all of our gelato which is supplied to us from two farms – Coolanowle Farm in Arles Co. Laois & Craigie’s Farm in Dunlavin, Co Wicklow. We use Irish filtered water brand ‘Uisce’ to make our sorbet range and so these new store openings mean consistently increasing support for our Irish producers and partners.”
