Over 1,400 special needs children from 40 centres around Dublin were driven by nearly 700 Dublin taxi drivers into Parnell Square for the 51st annual Ambrosia Special Children’s Taxi Day event last month. The fun day out on 7 September was also attended by well-known faces including Lucy Kennedy.

Following a cheque presentation of €14,000 on behalf of Ambrosia, Lord Mayor of Dublin, Gerry Breen, officially waved off the Garda escorted convoy, on to Club 92 in Leopardstown, where over 50 more taxi drivers were busy preparing party treats. Ambrosia has been the sponsor of this event first founded in 1960 for the last decade. Funds raised are used to buy special needs equipment for schools and centres.
