This July, Aldi will team up with its charity partner Barnardos to launch Aldi’s Big BBQ for Barnardos.

According to the discounter, this new initiative is designed to help raise funds for Barnardos Early Years and Family Support Services.

To kick things off, Aldi highlighted that has donated €10,000 to Barnardos, helping ensure vulnerable children and families get the support they need this summer – and now it’s over to you!

These vital services help address childhood food insecurity by providing vulnerable children across Ireland with access to healthy breakfasts, hot meals, and nutritious snacks all year round.

Speaking about Aldi’s Big BBQ for Barnardos, Paul O’Connell, Irish rugby legend and ambassador for Aldi and Barnardos, said: “It’s a wonderful way to bring together family, friends and the wider community while raising vital funds for vulnerable children and their families.

“I have seen first hand the tremendous work that Barnardos do across Ireland and that’s why I am encouraging everyone to fill your plate – and theirs – this July.”

How can you take part?

Aldi and Barnardos are asking people to sign up as a Big BBQ host and invite their family, friends, colleagues, and wider communities to their BBQ and donate to Barnardos – because childhood lasts a lifetime.

Mary Gamble, director of fundraising, marketing and communications, Barnardos Ireland, said: “Aldi has been unwavering in their support of Barnardos over the last number of years, helping us reach vulnerable children and their families across the country.

“At a time when so many families are facing poverty and financial hardship, events like this help make a real difference. Every donation, big or small, can change a child’s life so I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to sign up, donate and be part of something special this summer – because childhood lasts a lifetime.”

Remember:

Just €25 can help provide a week of nutritious meals in a Barnardos service for a child.

Since 2020, Aldi and Barnardos have worked together to create change for vulnerable children and families in communities across Ireland. So far, we’ve been able to support thousands who are most at risk.

So, join Aldi in supporting Ireland’s most vulnerable children and their families by hosting a BBQ or donating directly to Aldi’s fundraiser.

Register as a host and receive your unique fundraising link here and find out how you can make your BBQ feast count for more this summer!

Whether or not you host or attend a BBQ this summer, you can still donate directly to the fundraiser here.

Every donation will go towards making a lasting impact on a child’s life and wellbeing.
