BWG Foods supporting Global Hand Washing Day

While hand washing has always been a key part of health and safety protocols, it is more important than ever in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
BWG Foods has a dedicated food safety & quality team to ensure the group is always to the fore when it comes to setting the highest of standards in its stores. Fittingly therefore, the group states it is “delighted to acknowledge, promote and celebrate Global Handwashing Day on 15 October”.
“Global Handwashing Day highlights the importance of handwashing with soap at home, in the community, and around the world,” BWG Foods said in a press statement.
The aim of the day is to increase awareness and knowledge of the benefits of handwashing with soap. The 2020 Global Handwashing Day theme is “Hand Hygiene for All.” This year’s theme calls on everyone to scale up hand hygiene, especially through handwashing with soap.
At this stage, we all know just how important handwashing is in our everyday lives, especially as the world continues to learn how to live alongside Covid-19. The group is therefore asking the general public to please remember that we can all make a difference this Global Handwashing Day by engaging in the following behaviour:
- Do it – Wash your hands with soap at critical times, especially before eating, cooking, or feeding others.
- Be a leader – Model good handwashing behaviour, and remind or help others to always wash their hands before eating.
- Make it normal – Make handwashing part of your family meals and everyday practice.
