Over 180 senior business leaders attended the ninth annual Business in the Community Ireland CEO Forum where the latest recipients of the Business Working Responsibly Mark were announced.

The mark which highlights first-class corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability is run by Business in the Community Ireland. Based on the ISO 26000 standard, it is valid for three years and is audited by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

KBC Bank Ireland Head Office and Fujitsu Ireland are being accredited with the mark for the first time this year and joining them for re-accreditation are Boots Retail Ireland Limited, CRH Ireland, Deloitte Ireland, ESB, Gas Networks Ireland and Intel Ireland.

Held this year at the Guinness Storehouse on Tuesday, 13 October, the annual CEO Forum is run with the purpose of bringing new developments in the area of sustainability to Irish CEOs. In a year where business reputation has been firmly in the spotlight, leadership and megatrends around sustainability were the topics of the forum. The keynote speakers were Pat O’Doherty, CEO of ESB and Dorman Followwill from Frost & Sullivan.

Tina Roche, CEO, Business in the Community Ireland said the organisation has “driven the agenda on CSR for 15 years and look forward to continually pushing for best practice as we want all companies in Ireland to be responsible and sustainable”.

She added that “the mark is challenging to achieve” and so congratulated the “forward-thinking companies” that had obtained this certification.
