Kells Wholemeal, one of Ireland’s oldest millers and leading suppliers of bakery products, has received the official Whole Grain Stamp from the Whole Grains Council in the US. The stamp guarantees that Kells Wholemeals new whole grain bread products are made with 100% whole grain flour.

Kells Wholemeal is one of the first companies in Ireland to have received the official Whole Grain Stamp and  is launching a wholegrain health awareness campaign in 200 artisan bakeries throughout the country. Each bread made to recipe will not only contain flour made with full whole grain wheat, or full whole grains themselves, but guarantees to contain at least 26g of whole grain per typical serving.

Kells Wholemeal is owned by the Mosse family, originators of Mosses Brown Bread Mix, milling on the banks of the river Nore in Bennettsbridge, Co. Kilkenny, since 1840. The company applied for the Whole Grain Stamp in order to help promote the authenticity and health benefits of its products. The company says it feels very strongly about promoting artisan bakers; it will provide each bakery with a promotional pack containing items displaying the Whole Grain Stamp and highlighting the health benefits of eating whole grains. The packs include leaflets, bags and window stickers.
