Tesco has officially opened its brand-new Superstore at the busy M1 Retail Park in Drogheda.

The new 30 thousand square foot purpose-built store has created 100 new jobs for the local area.

Offering a state-of-the-art shopping experience for customers, the M1 Retail Park store will join four Tesco stores already open across County Louth.

Features

The new store will bring the very best of Tesco to this part of Drogheda with features including a spacious fresh food area, dedicated bakery and off-licence, F&F clothing, and a contemporary Tesco Mobile phone shop.

The store has been built with sustainability in mind, with a high spec energy efficient design featuring innovative lighting and heating solutions, shelving, fridges, floor design and a beautiful exterior.

The retailer has long been a supporter of local Irish suppliers and customers will find a wide selection of Louth and Meath-based brands in store including Boyne Valley, Tayto crisps, Cali Cali, Coole Swan, Lir chocolates and much more.

Store manager David Murphy will lead the team and says they are very excited to welcome customers in to experience the state-of-the-art store.

“My team and I are incredibly excited to open our new Tesco store in the M1 Retail Park today (27 November).

“It’s been a busy few months getting to this point, but the store is looking great and we’re ready to serve our customers.

“We can’t wait to get to know you.”

Paul Healy, retail operations director, Tesco Ireland says this is an important day for the Tesco team: “We are really pleased to be opening a new store in the vibrant and growing town of Drogheda.

“Customers can expect a fantastic new store where they can truly enjoy their shopping experience.

“We want to play our part in this vibrant local community and look forward to supporting local producers and helping clubs and community organisations in and around Drogheda through our Community Fund.”

Tesco is a proud supporter of the communities it serves.

To date its Community Fund has helped support thousands of organisations across the country, from GAA clubs to children’s charities.

In its first campaign the M1 Retail Park store will support the locality with donations to three local causes, including Connect Family Resource Centre, St Joseph National School, Mell, and Tullyallen National School.

Tesco is also actively supporting children in the county through its Stronger Starts programmes, with children from 12 schools receiving free weekly packs of fresh fruit and veg during the school term, helping them to lead healthier lives.
