Over the week commencing 17 August 2026, Revenue officers seized Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €9,100, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €6,900.

Collectively Revenue seized contraband with an estimated value of over €111,900 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.

Risk profiling

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and aside from the Tobacco products included the following:

  • 2.6 kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €52,600.
  • 135 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €25,300.
  • Various tablets, with an estimated value of over €13,300.
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €9,000.

The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam and Ciara.

The parcels originated in the USA, the UK, France, India and Canada, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.

The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Fifty-one weapons accessories were also seized.

Ongoing investigations 

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
