Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of €660,650 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort, during the week ending 13 April 2025.

The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:

  • 20.6kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €413,000
  • Almost 60kg of edibles, with an estimated value of €55,000
  • Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of €20,300
  • Cigarettes and tobacco products with an estimated value of €96,850
  • 244 counterfeit goods of assorted brands, with an estimated value of over €67,500

Tobacco and alcohol products seized

According to Revenue, included in the tobacco products is 1,363kg of raw tobacco, with an estimated value of over €91,000, which was seized in Dublin Port.

The tobacco originated in Italy, and was intercepted with the assistance of detector dog Milo, it added.

In addition to the above, almost 640 litres of alcohol with a retail value of over €8,000, and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €4,750, was seized in various operations.

Ongoing investigations 

Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
