To help keep your Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) in top condition, Re-Turn has released a comprehensive PDF guide on obligations and troubleshooting tips. 

This document provides valuable insights and tricks to maintain and troubleshoot your RVM effectively.

Cleaning Frequency

  • Clean the machine thoroughly three times a day to prevent sticky residue buildup

Cleaning supplies

  • Bucket and warm water
  • Non-abrasive brush
  • Cloth and dry lint-free cloth
  • Non-ammonia glass cleaner
  • Broom and dustpan

Cleaning process checklist

1.) Put the RVM into ‘Maintenance/Cleaning’ mode

2.) Remove any visible debris or liquids

3.) Sweep away debris from the machine

4.) Clean these components:

    • Receiving Tray/Conveyor Belt (including surrounding walls)
    • Spill Tray
    • All sensors and reflectors
    • Barcode scanners (refer to maintenance video for locations)
    • Bin full sensor and reflector
    • Voucher dispensing area

 

5.) Replace the infeed module if necessary

6.) Return the RVM to ‘Normal’ mode

7.) Close the door securely

8.) Wipe away any visible spills on the outside of the machine

9.) Change the printer roll when required

RVM maintenance obligations

  • Ensure the RVM is operational and available to consumers at all times
  • Regular maintenance protects your investment and income
  • Follow schedule 1 (1.3) compliance for automated collection procedures
  • Ensure bins are emptied when full and stored securely

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Jammed/Stuck Items:
      • Inspect the intake area
      • Use the manual release mechanism
      • Follow safety procedures
  • Sensor Malfunctions:
      • Check for debris
      • Calibrate sensors per guidelines
  • Network Connectivity:
      • Verify settings and connections.
      • Restart networking devices.
  • Power Interruptions:
      • Ensure the plug is secure.
      • Check circuit breakers and fuses.
  • Software Glitches:
    • Restart the RVM software.

General maintenance

  • Ensure the RVM bin is emptied when full
  • Regularly clean intake areas and sensors
  • Schedule inspections

Safety reminders

  • Follow all safety protocols
  • Contact technical support if required
