The new Lotto ticket terminals are causing issues for retailers across the country.

The roll out of the new terminals has been taking place over the past few months but retailers have been reporting numerous glitches with the new system.

Premier Lotteries Ireland, the new operators of the National Lottery, have employed Intralot, a Greek gaming company to install nearly 4,000 new terminals around the country.

However it is not running smoothly with retailers saying that their systems crash regularly and that the machines are failing to scan bar codes. This is causing major delays in store.

In addition, the technical support is not seen as adequate as retailers are left waiting too long for assistance to fix the problems.

Retailers are also said to be unhappy with the new operator because they have failed to be reimbursed for tickets bought under the old system.

Representatives for the retail trade have been holding meetings with Premier Lotteries Ireland in recent days in a bid to find a solution to the problem.

PLI consortium is made up of An Post, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Camelot in the UK.
