Sadie’s Kitchen wins Producer of the Year at The Food Awards 2018

The third annual Food Awards Ireland 2018 took place in Dublin this week, recognising indivuduals, products and establishments for excellence in their fields. Innovative bone broth producer Sadie’s Kitchen was named Irish Produce Provider of the Year. “Thank you so much to our amazing team,” said Sadie’s Kitchen founder and director Sarah Kiely, “and to everyone who has supported us on our journey.” Other winners on the night included Room 8 in Navan, which won Restauarant of the Year, and Container Coffee on Dublin’s Thomas Street, which won Café/Bistro of the Year (Dublin) as well as the overall nationwide award for Cafe/Bistro of the year.

“Kevin the Carrot” returns as Aldi’s Christmas hero

‘Tis the season for high-profile Christmas ad campaigns, and Aldi has become the latest retailer to throw its hat in the ring. Kevin the Carrot, the animated character that first appeared in 2016,  returns alongside new anthropomorphic vegetables for a series of adventures with family and friends at the heart of it all. Aldi’s Christmas adverts will run throughout the festive season and will feature Kevin the Carrot re-telling well-loved bedtime fairy tales. Stories will include ‘Kevin the Carrot and Pea-nocchio’, ‘Katie the Carrot and the Fairy Cake Mother’ and ‘Kevin the Carrot and Rhubarb Stiltskin’.

Mackle Pet Foods launches premium Chef’s Selection range in major Irish retailers.

Mackle Pet Foods of Co. Tyrone is expanding in the Irish natural petfood market with the launch of its new premium Chef’s Selection range  in Dunnes, Supervalu, Eurospar, Tesco and independent pet stores this autumn. With its Naturo brand already available in 900 Tesco stores in Ireland and the UK, this new product launch will further enhance the company’s reputation as a leading supplier of natural petfoods, to support specific dietary requirements. Chef’s Selection was developed in response to feedback from pet owners who want to give natural pet foods to their dogs; in particular where dogs have allergies, digestion and skin issues, or other medical conditions.

Tesco introduces Finest* food, drinks and toys for Christmas at Dublin showcase

Over 100 people from the retail, media and marekting industries gathered at the Odeon on Dublin’s Harcourt Street for the unveiling of Tesco’s Finest* offerings for the festive season. Culinary enthusiasts sampled the flavours of Christmas from party food through to Finest* Irish turkey and ham and mouth-watering desserts, the top festive tipples were showcased and guests had the opportunity to view some of the most exciting toys of the festive season at the gifting exhibition. A vast array of Finest* products were unveiled, including meat, seafood, wines and children’s collectibles.

Boyne Brewhouse launches ‘Winter Warmers’ limited edition craft beer range

Drogheda-based Boyne Brewhouse has launched a limited edition ‘Winter Warmers’ three-bottle Irish craft beer range to enjoy as the days draw shorter and the festive season approaches. Two new beers have been brewed as companions to Boyne’s multi award winning Imperial Stout, named “Best Beer in Ireland” at the 2018 Alltech Craft Beer Awards. The brewing team at the Boyne Brewhouse looked to the brewing traditions of Belgium and England respectively for the beer styles and all three beers embody the spirit of winter, cold nights, celebrations, good company and fireside conversation.

 

 

Embrace the festive season at Slane Distillery Christmas Market

Slane Distillery, on the historic grounds of Slane Castle in the Boyne Valley, will be converted into a picturesque Christmas village this December. The courtyard in the centre of the 250-year-old Georgian stables that now house Slane Distillery will be transformed with the addition of traditional log cabins selling a selection of giftware, local artisan produce, and locally produced confectionery. With these new additions, visitors to Slane Distillery this festive season have the opportunity to pick up the perfect stocking filler, along with a little something for themselves. Visitors will also have the chance to avail of a range of tasty food offerings available at the food trucks in the distillery, along with warming Slane Whiskey cocktails.

M&S Food launches first ever “unscripted” TV ad, starring colleagues and customers

Marks & Spencer has kicked off its biggest ever Christmas campaign. In a first for the retailer, the campaign sees M&S Food brought to life in a new and original way – through customer and colleagues’ own words. Marking the first time M&S has launched an unscripted ad, the Christmas food TV campaign puts colleagues and customers at the centre. The ads encourage the nation to join the conversation and share their Christmas food favourites using the hashtag #MyMarksFave. In total, the ad series features over 60 customers and colleagues.
