Glendalough Distillery releases a limited edition sloe gin

Glendalough, Ireland’s first craft distillery, has released a Limited Edition Sloe Gin, the newest addition to its famous seasonal botanical gin range. Only 120 bottles of this small-batch gin has been made for winter 2016-17. While many sloe gins have a lower alcohol strength since the sloes dilute the spirit, but Glendalough maintains a 43% ABV to more fully retain the botanics of the base gin and highlight the nuances of the distinctive sloe character.

Introducing the Avoca Butcher

Upmarket retailer Avoca has opened the first Avoca Butcher in Salt, Monkstown Food Market. The team at Avoca report they have spent months sourcing the best artisan, organic and free range meat producers throughout Ireland and have brought it together under one roof. The extensive range of meat on offer has been hand-selected by Avoca’s master butcher James Kenny, who has over 20 years’ experience in the business.

Diageo Reserve World Class workshop kicks off Irish Bartender of the Year 2017 competition

The World Class Workshop recently took place in The Brickyard, Dundrum. Some of Ireland’s top bartenders were taken through their paces during a series of workshops hosted by Diageo Reserve ambassador, Peter O’Connor, European World Class ambassador, Max La Rocca and World Class Ireland 2016 winner, Andrew Dickey. World Class is renowned as the industry’s most prestigious and respected bartending competition. It also showcases the Diageo Reserve portfolio of luxury spirits.

Tesco reveals show stopper desserts for christmas day

In the run up to Christmas Day, Tesco Ireland has been busy highlighting what it describes as the “ultimate show stopper Christmas desserts which are likely to wow dinner guests the nation over”. These include The Tesco Finest Reveal Cake (€10), a Belgian chocolate dome, flecked with gold, encasing a decadent dessert that is revealed when the sweet caramel sauce is heated and poured over.  Alongside, the Tesco Finest Dessert Cheeseboard (€10), the two limited edition desserts will available in 80 Tesco stores nationwide on Friday 23 December while stocks last.

5.7 million calories and 1.6 million units of alcohol will fuel Santa’s big night out in Ireland

Two in three (64%) Irish people will take part in the annual tradition of leaving food and drink out for Santa Claus this Christmas Eve, meaning that Santa will consume over 430,000 biscuits and 1.6 million units of alcohol in Ireland alone. Research from on demand delivery service Deliveroo, reveals that on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus will consume 5.7 million calories as he makes his way to homes across Ireland.

Deliveroo says it is focused on providing the ultimate food delivery experience. Customers have the option to schedule orders up to one day in advance or receive food as soon as possible between 12 noon and 11pm. To download the Deliveroo app visit the app store on an iPhone or Android device.
