Lidl Ireland is in celebration mode after opening its new store in Glanmire, Co. Cork today, following five months of construction. Representing a multi-million euro investment, the building measures nearly 24,000 square feet and stands at eight and a half metres high.

This latest opening will employ 22 people from the area, bringing the total number of Lidl stores in Ireland to 145 and the number of employees to over 3,980.

Boasting a new architectural design and spacious layout incorporating wider aisles and a larger bakery, as well as improved staff and customer facilities, the site incorporates new design concepts for Lidl stores in Ireland.

Lidl says the innovative lean orientated design features high spec operational facilities to maximise efficiency and streamline processes which will allow staff to spend more time in a customer facing role, further improving the customer shopping experience. The new store will also ensure a greater focus on energy efficiency with a reduction of around 20 – 30% on standard electricity costs via features like an energy efficient heating system.
