The 2023 Repak Pakman Awards will close for entries on 31 August. In its 9th year, the country’s National Environmental Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in recycling and waste management across organisations, businesses, and community groups.

For the first time, this years’ awards will recognise individuals in Ireland, with the new category: ESG Leader.

The Pakman awards are widely recognised as one of the most prestigious accolades in the environmental sector for those who demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and environmental efforts.

Over the past nine years, the Pakman Awards have recognised and rewarded environmental champions across Ireland, with last year’s winners including Limerick Polymers Production, which won the Overall Pakman Award for best-in-class waste recovery and efforts to develop a truly circular economy for plastic packaging. The 12 categories will be awarded this year, including the Community Recycling Initiative Award, Plastic Pledge Award, and Business Recycling Champion Award.

Séamus Clancy, CEO of Repak added: “With the introduction of the ESG Leader in the Pakman Awards, the expansion now allows individual people within our 3,400 Membership group to showcase their efforts. The ESG category acknowledges and emphasises the importance of environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and effective governance in waste management practices. By recognising these aspects, The Pakman Awards aims to highlight the broader impact of recycling and waste management beyond environmental considerations.

“With nominations for the 2023 Pakman Awards closing on 31 August 2023, we would encourage all organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals to share efforts they have made and enter this years’ awards. Every year, we continue to be impressed by the environmental enhancements being made and this year will be no exception. We want to showcase the work of everyone who gets involved in innovative and creative ways to recycle and manage waste.  We’re excited to see what this years’ award entries bring and the hard work that goes into ensuring Ireland is on the road to a more sustainable future.”

Winners will be announced at this year’s award ceremony, which will be held on 26 October at The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin. Entrants are invited to submit examples of their environmental efforts from the past twelve months, with details of all categories available at https://pakmanawards.repak.ie/.

The 2023 Pakman Awards close on 31 August. More information can be found at Pakman Awards on Facebook and @PakmanAwards on LinkedIn, Twitter and https://pakmanawards.repak.ie/.
