Kind, the tasty and nutritious snacks company, has introduced a new wrapper which consumers can put in their green recycling bins.

The new packaging is expected to reduce the company’s virgin plastic use by 6% in total weight versus the old wrapper.

Kind sources recycled plastic using a “mass balance” methodology, whereby recycled plastic is purchased at an agreed-upon volume and mixed with virgin or new plastic during the manufacturing process. This means that although the recycled content per bar wrapper may vary, overall, Kind is contributing to circularity through the sourcing of recycled plastic*.

According to the company, Kind is “more than just a name. It’s a commitment: to making snack bars that don’t compromise”.

The new packaging design is not only helping to reduce the amount of virgin plastic in the Kind supply chain but also makes it easy for consumers to dispose of. In Ireland, the wrapper can be put directly in the consumer’s green bin, which will help reduce waste and lessen the environmental impact.

Kind has worked alongside Repak, an environmental non-profit organisation, to ensure the new packaging meets high standards of sustainability and can be recycled easily.

“We are thrilled to launch our new recyclable wrapper, which is a significant step on our packaging innovation journey,” said Sean Mullen of Kind.

“Making delicious and nutritious snacks that are also convenient is at the core of what we do – and doing that in a way which reduces our environmental impact is a top priority. With this new packaging, fans of Kind bars in Ireland are now able to recycle their wrappers from home.

“We know we still have a way to go, and as a business, we will continue to explore new technologies that might improve our packaging both now and in the future,” Mullen added.

Kind’s new packaging is now fully available in stores nationwide. For more information, visit https://www.KINDsnacks.ie/.
