Kantar chief to explore retail trends at Marketing Society event
David Berry, MD of Kantar, will join a panel of experts at an upcoming Marketing Society Event that will kick offf by posing the question "have we hit peak retail?" What this means, literally and figuratively, will be the order of the day.

The Marketing Society of Ireland is set to host industry leading market researcher and Managing Director of Kantar in Ireland, David Berry, at a special event that will explore current retail trends and challenges in Ireland, on April 24. The morning event will take place at the Royal College of Physicians on Dublin’s Kildare Street and runs from 8am – 9am.
At the event, titled “Have we hit ‘Peak Retail’?”, Berry will help set the context around current market retail conditions and will discuss emerging trends in the sector.
Kantar is an industry leader in helping brand owners, retailers and government bodies understand consumer and retailer trends and create the best possible service for their customers. Berry will also be joined by a panel of retail industry experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities within the retail sector.
The panel will consider changing shopper behaviour, the ‘rise of online’, the increasing cost of rent, what it means to ‘buy Irish’, the future of premium, and the decline of the megastore or shopping centre amongst other topics and issues.
Speaking about the event, Chris Upton, Chairperson of the Marketing Society of Ireland, said he is delighted to be joined by a “true giant” of the research and insights industry in David Berry. “David is almost uniquely qualified in Ireland to comment on the current state of the retail sector and to remark on emerging trends,” Upton said.
At this event,” he continued, “I’m really pleased to be able to provide our members with access to unrivalled industry insights. This event feels particularly timely, because I think we all recognise that we truly are at a kind of tipping point where the retail sector is concerned.”
