Jim Reeves, customer director at Unilever Food Solutions paid a visit to the Silken Thomas, Kildare and the Castle Hotel in Macroom, Cork to announce them as the winners of the 2018 Knorr Great Carvery of the Year competition, and to present the coveted prize to each surprised and ecstatic carvery team.

The Knorr Great Carvery of the Year competition is considered one of the top culinary competitions on the island of Ireland. Both winning locations were up against some stiff competition but their hard work and consistent quality is what won them the overall prizes.

Unilever Food Solutions’ Jim Reeves said he was delighted to present the overall Knorr Great Carvery of the Year awards to the eventual winners. “These awards are testament to the continuous hard work of each venue,” he said, “as they strive to provide great quality carvery offerings.

“We at Unilever Food Solutions would like to thank the Silken Thomas and Castle Hotel Macroom for their dedication and support,” Reeves added. “We had a number of worthy entrants this year but our overall winning venues really stood out.”

Rachael Hohler, marketing manager at the Castle Hotel Macroom, Cork said the award is a great honour for everyone at the hotel. “It’s fantastic to receive recognition for the hard work of our team,” Hohler said. “Delivering fresh and delicious food using local produce every day is our ethos, and we are delighted to be rewarded for fulfilling that promise.”

Brian Flanagan, owner and general manager at the Silken Thomas, Kildare, said he was incredibly happy and proud of the win. “We endeavour to provide our customers with good quality food and welcoming atmosphere,” he said, “and the team goes above and beyond every day to ensure each customer leaves satisfied with both the food and their experience.”
