XL Clybaun Stores celebrates major relaunch
XL Clybaun Stores marks a major revamp, adding new services and products for customers in Knocknacarra

XL Clybaun Stores has recently celebrated the relaunch of its store on Clybaun Road, Knocknacarra, following a significant investment in the store in partnership with BWG Foods.
The store first opened in 1995 and has been serving the local community ever since. retailers Kevin Mullan and Paul Shanley took over the business in 2014 and joined the XL group.
Earlier this year, they completed a significant investment in the business, giving the store a complete revamp and introducing a Full Off Licence, Insomnia coffee dock and the I Scream selection of ice-creams.
Continued commitment
The investment reflects Kevin and Paul’s continued commitment to the local community and to ensuring customers can access a broader range of products and services close to home.
The redevelopment has also introduced Movie Night In, which has proved popular with families and weekend shoppers, alongside a number of new services and store concepts.
The store is also well known locally as a destination during those sunny spells for ice cream.
Alongside its grocery and convenience offering, customers can also avail of Lotto services and the new Full Off Licence.

Relaunch celebrations
The relaunch celebrations took place on Thursday, 20 August, with customers enjoying special offers, spot prizes and children’s entertainment throughout the afternoon.
There was also a live outside broadcast from Galway Bay FM, while Galway senior footballer Cathal Sweeney joined the celebrations and met customers at the store.
The store is managed by Naomi Flaherty, who leads a team of eight staff, reflecting XL Clybaun Stores’ continued role as a local employer in the Knocknacarra community.
With more than 30 years serving the local community and a significant investment now complete, XL Clybaun Stores looks forward to continuing to serve customers in Knocknacarra and the wider Galway area for many years to come.
