A three-man gang reportedly drove a digger through the shopfront of Dano’s SuperValu in Mallow, in early hours of Tuesday 2 June 2026.

It is believed that the incident occurred with the intent to steal an ATM from the premises, reports the Irish Times. 

The gang have allegedly caused significant damage to the exterior of the supermarket.

After discovering that all the cash had been removed from the machine, it is understood that the gang left empty-handed.

Dano’s SuperValu has been serving the local community in mallow for in the region of 50 years.

‘Appealing for witnesses’

In a statement, Gardaí noted that they are appealing for witnesses following an incident of burglary that occurred at a business premises in Mallow, Co. Cork in the early hours of Tuesday 2 June 2026.

“The incident occurred at approximately 1:30am at a supermarket off the R619 in the Bellevue area of Mallow.

“During the course of this burglary a JCB teleporter was driven through the shopfront,” the statement confirmed.

“A white Peugot flatbed truck was also used by the perpetrators at the scene.”

Ongoing investigations 

Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the Mallow area and may have seen the Peugot truck or the JCB, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
