The Convenience Stores & Newsagents Association (CSNA) has invited its members to consider hosting a ‘National Community Engagement Day’.

The initiative which was spearheaded by the IFA and GAA two years ago, has enabled hundreds of meetings with the local community and Gardai to take place throughout the country.

The purpose of these meetings was to introduce the Gardai to the community and for locals to get an opportunity to listen to practical advice and tips on safety and security.

Many of these meetings were held in the local shop, the local community hall or the GAA clubhouse.

Following a request by the organisers, the National Rural Safety Forum, the CSNA is extending an invitation to all of its members throughout the country to consider making their store a venue for an hour on Wednesday, 27 April to enable a “getting to know your local Garda” event.

An Garda Siochana are aiming for 500 locations nationwide.

A number of items have been given for distribution on the day, (high vis jackets, pens, books, farm safety leaflets, arm bands, beanie hats and bicycle reflectors etc).

If you are interested in hosting your local community engagement day, please contact the CSNA for further information.
