Clean Cut Meals and the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) and the GAA recently announced a three year partnership as the official GAA/GPA ready meals partner.

The brand noted that it will continue to ‘support busy lifestyle across Ireland with its convenient, high-quality, nutritious ready-to-heat meals’ available in SuperValu and Centra stores nationwide.

Commenting on the partnership Micheál Dyer, co-founder, Clean Cut Meals, said: “We’re extremely proud to be a Guaranteed Irish company and of our connection to Gaelic Games.”

Daily meal planning struggles

New research conducted by Clean Cut Meals reveals that over half of Irish adults struggle daily with meal planning, while 95% eat the same lunch multiple times each week.

The findings also show that the challenge extends to elite sport, with 74% of intercounty players citing lack of time as the biggest barrier to eating well.

Key research findings show:

  • 74% of intercounty players say lack of time is the biggest barrier to eating well
  • 57% of adults struggle to decide what to eat for lunch daily or most days
  • Over 80% of intercounty players eat ready to heat meals as part of their diet
  • One in three adults decide on lunch on the spot with no planning

The findings highlight that while both athletes and the public recognise the importance of eating well, time constraints are making it increasingly difficult to follow through.

As a result, many players are turning to convenient options and demanding high standards in terms of nutrition and ingredient quality.

Chef-prepared, high-protein meals

Clean Cut Meals highlighted that it offers chef-prepared, high-protein meals made with natural ingredients providing a trusted and convenient solution without compromising on taste or nutritional value.

What this research shows is that many people are under real time pressure when it comes to food. Even when you know what you should be eating, it’s not always easy to put that into practice, it added.

Tom Parsons, CEO, GPA, stated: “The Gaelic Players Association are delighted to welcome Clean Cut Meals to the table as a supporter on inter-county players.

“While their financial backing will directly impact the welfare and development of GPA members, Clean Cut Meals expertise will also help us grow a very meaningful partnership given nutrition is a central element of elite sporting performance.”

Peter McKenna, commercial director, GAA, added: “Clean Cut Meals is an exciting Irish success story and we are very pleased to welcome them as an Official GAA/GPA partner.

“Their focus on quality, convenience and nutrition aligns strongly with the values and needs of our players and members.”
