BWG Foodservice has secured a €15 million three year contract from First Choice Purchasing Ltd following a competitive tender process.

The deal will see BWG Foodservice partner with First Choice Purchasing Ltd to become the primary supplier of chilled, frozen and ambient goods to Ireland’s leading hotels and nursing homes.

Cork-based First Choice Purchasing, which has a core focus in the hotel and nursing home sectors, currently has over 200 customers. The company is the sole nominated procurement partner for Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI), the representative organisation for the private and voluntary nursing home sector, with over 350 members.

John Moane, managing director of BWG’s Wholesale Division, which includes BWG Foodservice, said the company’s partnership approach, along with its ability to deliver superior value, and emphasis on high service standards were all key factors in securing the First Choice Purchasing contract, as was the fact it is Irish owned and operated.

Customers of First Choice Purchasing will be serviced from BWG Foodservice’s key geographic locations in Dublin, Cork and Galway where they will have access to an extensive product range at competitive prices, such as the company’s own brand catering range, Chef’s Kitchen with almost 300 SKUs across ambient, chilled, frozen and non-food.

Eoghan Donnellan, general manager of First Choice Purchasing Ltd, said since the beginning of the contract this partnership has resulted in significant business growth for both companies."

BWG Foodservice has a proven track record in the foodservice sector, having been awarded a contract worth €1.5 million per annum from St. James’s Hospital in February 2012 for the exclusive supply of dry, chilled, fresh and frozen catering requirements. The company also services contracts with the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Hospital Procurement Services Group (HPSG) along with many prominent hotels and pubs.
