BWG Foodservice, the wholesale division of BWG Group, has forecast sales for 2017 will surpass €100m for the first time in the company’s history, following a significant number of nationwide supply contracts.

The company recorded growth of 15% during 2016, while enhancing its nationwide logistics and IT systems, and expanding its infrastructure through warehousing development.

This was the sixth consecutive year of growth for the company, whose enhanced sales were driven by a higher demand on its fresh & chilled category driven by interest in healthy food offerings in the marketplace. This led to a 26% growth in the segment, while frozen saw a 20% jump.

John Moane, managing director of BWG Wholesale, said the company is delighted about both the company’s growth and the predictions for the next year’s sales. “We are particularly excited about the fact that we’re forecast to hit €100m sales for the first time this year,” he said. “This is down to our relentless focus on always delivering high-quality produce at a competitve price point, as efficiently as possible through our unique supply chain.”

Over the past 18 months, BWG Foodservice has secured contracts with the HSE as well as leading catering groups Baxter Story, Gather & Gathjer and First Choice Purchasing, totalling €29m.
