Aldi has submitted a planning application to extend the capacity of its Oranmore store car park by over 40%. If approved, the extension will see an additional 39 free car parking spaces added, bringing the total capacity to 131.

Aldi Oranmore which is centrally located at New Town Centre is one of Aldi’s busiest stores in Galway. According to the retailer, the move would allow Aldi to ensure all its customers could avail of free parking.

The extended car park would also provide three extra parent-child parking spaces and two additional spaces reserved for shoppers with a disability.

“Providing the best shopping experience for customers is our number one priority,” said Colin Breslin, Aldi regional managing director. “By extending our car park to 131 spaces we can ensure that all Aldi shoppers in the local community are guaranteed more free parking at the store. We look forward to further investing in Oranmore and meeting the needs of the people of the town.”

Aldi’s currently operates nine stores in Co. Galway and has recently obtained planning permission for a new store on Old Monivea Road, Ballybrit.
