The new Supermac's Donegal Service Station outside Donegal town has opened its doors, marking a major investment in the area and creating dozens of new jobs.

60 jobs have been created at the new Supermac’s Donegal Service Station that officially opened its doors this week. The new centre includes Donegal’s first Supermac’s, along with a wide range of retail and convenience outlets. The site is owned and operated by the Supermac’s franchisee, Ken Foley.

Supermac’s MD Pat McDonagh said that the positivity in the region was one of the key reasons for investing there. “Our franchisee, Ken Foley, has been with the company for 16 years,” McDonagh said, “and it was a natural fit that he would open an outlet in Donegal Town.

“We have been inundated for years by people from Donegal to open in the county. Once the right site was found the decision was clear,” McDonagh added. “What makes Supermac’s different is our commitment to the communities we are involved with. Not only do we provide sustainable jobs but we become active members of the community as well.”

Franchisee Ken Foley is also the owner of a Supermac’s outlets in Sligo and Ballina. “We are delighted to be the first Supermac’s outlet in Donegal,” he said, “and like all the Supermac’s outlets throughout the country it is important that we are part of the community here.

“The creation of 60 jobs is a part of that and having good staff and a good team around you is one of the key ingredients for success in a business like this. Another key ingredient is the positivity that is in the area and there is a great buzz about the North West now that I haven’t seen in a while. People are on the move.”

Foley cites the Wild Atlantic Way as having a huge effect on the tourist trade and there are more people at work.  “Good quality, fresh convenient food is what they are looking for and we will supply them with that here,” he said.
