Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, and Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Alan Coleman recently showed their support for the SME food sector when they attended  Lynch’s Centra ‘Local and Artisan Producer Showcase’  in Crosshaven, Co. Cork.

The event showcased 20 SME food producers from around the country, introducing customers to a wide variety of locally sourced products and an opportunity to meet the producers.

On the day Simon Coveney and Cllr. Alan Coleman took time to meet with all the producers to gain a greater understanding of their business and the challenges they are facing. They heard how working with Bernard Lynch has given producers a route to market and platform for growth. The producers highlighted the importance of working with a national brand like Centra and the opportunities it opens up for them. Also, they flagged the need for support from local and national government in areas of funding, innovation and job creation.

Minister Coveney said: “Being able to display products with shelf space to target consumers is very important and it is evident today that Bernard Lynch is actively supporting this objective. He is passionate about promoting local and artisan producers.”

Bernard Lynch, store owner, and Monica Gajdzik, fresh food manager in-store, have been working with over 50 suppliers to bring an exciting range of high quality, local and artisan products to their customers. These range from award-winning Irish patés and terrines with a French touch to curries with an authentic Indian recipe or Dilisk, a seaweed which is an excellent source of protein and Vitamin B12, to the freshest of vegetables.

Bernard Lynch said: “Supporting small, local and artisan producers is very important.  It is what makes us different from our competitors and makes us the destination shop for many customers…I am very proud to be supporting local suppliers like Horizon Farm, Patel’s Curry, Sea of Vitality and The Tipperary Kitchen.”
