Applegreen is teaming up with World of Coffee this summer, a large-scale event that will see thousands of coffee enthusiasts from all over the world converge on Dublin. World of Coffee, which celebrates its 16th anniversary this year, showcases and celebrates the trends, innovations, equipment and services surrounding the coffee industry.

Among all this, for the first time, the event will play host to the World Barista Championship Final, the pre-eminent international coffee competition worldwide. Applegreen will sponsor this event, which focuses on promoting excellence in coffee, advancing the barista profession and engaging a worldwide audience with an annual championship event serving as a climax of local and regional events around the world.

John Diviney, Applegreen’s director of food systems, said the company is delighted to partner with both the World Barista Championships and the World of Coffee this year. “We endeavour to be leaders in our industry when it comes to coffee excellence,” he said. “We are committed to offering our customers the best coffee on the road, and this sponsorship is a further step for us to prove how serious we are about that.”

Paul Stack, operations director with Marco Beverage Systems, president of Specialty Coffee Association of Europe and chair of the SCAE Ireland Strategy Group, said Applegreen’s sponsorship of the event would generate awareness  among consumers. “We are connecting the consumer with specialty coffee, he said. “World of Coffee is SCAE’s premiere event and every second year it coincides with the World Barista Championships and it is a great honour that Dublin is hosting both these events”.

As well as the World Barista Championship which will see Natalia Piotrowska represent Ireland, there is plenty more going on at World of Coffee Dublin, including competitions like the World Brewer’s Cup with Rashel Winn representing Ireland, SCAE Excellence Awards and Photography Awards.
