1/ Poundland to close numerous stores in the U.K.
According to EDA.TV NEWS, the chain, has recently announced the closure of about 68 stores in the United Kingdom and Ireland, putting around 1,000 jobs at risk.
The company, which has about 792 stores and employs around 16,000 people, is facing a crisis that has led it to reduce its presence.
2/ Elephant stomps through a local grocery store in Thailand
According to SkyNews, an elephant reportedly helped himself to food in a shop in Thailand.
The animal chomped down nine bags of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich and some bananas worth around £20.
His name is Plai Biang Lek and he is a familiar sight on the fringes of the Kha Yai National Park.

4/ TikTok to revolutionize the Japanese market with integrated e-commerce feature
TikTok is poised to debut its integrated e-commerce feature, TikTok Shop, in Japan, per Retail News Asia.
The initiative is aimed at capitalizing on the platform’s high levels of user engagement to facilitate direct purchases within the application.
A recent update to TikTok’s privacy policy in Japan that included references to “shopping features” has stirred conjectures that the official launch might occur this month.
5/ Amazon to be investigated for late supplier payments
The Grocery Code Adjudicator has reportedly launched an investigation with reasonable grounds to suspect Amazon has breached the GCA code and is asking suppliers to contribute anonymously.
The GCA said it has “reasonable grounds” to suspect Amazon has broken paragraph five of the Groceries Supplier Code of Practice (GSCoP), which stipulates no delay in payments, relating to the period between 1 March 2022 and 20 June 2025, and based on evidence from a range of sources.

Niko Omilana has recently released a new candy called “Shades by Niko’, which, in a statement online, he said, “After retiring from the political world, I’ve decided to focus on something more serious: sweets.” The gummies currently come in three flavors and are available in the U.K.
7/ Kroger’s shares rise as grocer says shoppers seek lower prices
According to CNBC, shares of Kroger rose more than 9% recently as the supermarket operator raised its full-year sales outlook and said it’s drawing shoppers seeking lower-priced store brands and cheaper alternatives to dining out.
The company said Friday that it will close about 60 stores over the next 18 months, which led to a $100 million impairment charge in the first quarter.
